9 miles, 2400 ft. of ascent. Starting from Howtown this walk takes in White Knott (Synge), Arthur's Pike, Loadpot Hill, Swarth Fell and Bonscale Pike. Allow about 5 hours. The descent from Bonscale Pike is pathless & quite steep!

Park in lay by nr Hartside Cafe. Follow cse of old tramway S to levels. Off piste to Melmerby Fell then FP to Meg's Cairn. Descend NE on old Roman rd to shooters' track. Contine NE to Mere Sike. Return W on FPs spt ht 561 on A686. Finish on road. 14km, 362m vertical, 3:16hr. (Recorded 17/07/14)
