Member's Comments on Lantern Pike...

  • Chris Pearson says...
  • Climbed from Little Hayfield where the old mill has been converted like many others into apartments for commuters to nearby Manchester and Stockport. Local residents included - Tony Warren the creator of Coronation Street (memorabilia in the Lantern Pike Inn) and Arthur Lowe of Dads Army. In the 1920s-30s around 5,000 people each weekend would travel from Manchester to Hayfield by train to enjoy the countryside around Kinder Scout. Thee is an annual fell race up Lantern Pike.
