  • The highlight here of this popular wooded hill with many paths is the Hemlock Stone pinnacle, believed cause by quarrying.Black grime from industrial air pollution coats the top bulging half made of more resistant Nottingham Castle Sandstone, but there is none on the softer Lenton Sandstone below which is being eroded by wind action much quicker. A bonfire was lit on top of the stone to celebrate the queen's jubilee in 2002 !
