Member's Comments on Torberry Hill...

  • Chris Pearson says...
  • An isolated small hill standing apart from the South Downs being the site of an iron age hill contour fort from 2000 yrs ago, The summit fortifications consisted of a ditch with a rampart. Tough short, steep ascent made from west up through wood following deer tracks (and deer), with spells of rolling backwards on a steeply inclined carpet of beech nuts.(worse going down) Tall rough grass on summit. Sadly,I was just two weeks late to maybe spot the midsummer fairies that legend says appear on this hill.
