- First visited this in 1977. Very easily reached from road at Roach End. The cliffs below the ridge are one of the best known rock climbing areas in the Peak District, and every weekend you'll see many climbers here, whilst walking the ridge south. The Roaches is also one of the few places in Britain known to have wild wallabies. These were released here in the 1930's and have been pronounced extinct several times, only to reappear once more. They are very shy creatures, that are very rarely seen, often with years between sightings.
