  • 2/4/15 A walk with a difference along the pebbly beach from Silecroft to Bootle with L and Darren. Finally a calm sunny day after the recent gales. Silecroft is popular with South Cumbria sea anglers, both from the beach and boats. Boat safety rules state :1:A Lifejacket for each person aboard. 2: At least two (in-date) red flares, 1 smoke, 1 rocket/parachute . 3:A second means of propulsion. 4:An Anchor. Failure to do this may result in suspension of use of the two 1980s tractors used for launching the boats. If the tractors are used the rules state they should not be driven in too deep! After an hour of beach wandering from Silecroft we climbed steeply up the a grassy spur in the crumbling glacial boulder clay cliffs to this lovely green field bump. interestingly northwards on crumbling cliff top edge (electric fence kept us out of field) until forced to descend to the pebbly beach again.
