  • Had no map - just memory and aimed for the highest point- straightforward. In 2008 Castleford featured in a 4 episode series Big Town Plan presented by Grand Designs host McCloud, which aimed to see if good design, planning and targeted investment can regenerate communities - in this case Castleford, a down at heel former mining town in Yorkshire? To the SE of the town there is now the large Junction 32 multi-store centre and the Xscape Leisure Complex, Europe’s largest indoor real snow slope.
