A good bit of hard rough uphill work. From Dovestones dam track then steeply alongside stream -thin path exists -to shortest line out onto moorland plateau to flat peat hag top. Surprisingly found small cairn and card announcing Tameside highpoint and photo of Wilson. Good test for fell shoe grip on same steep wet grass descent. 1hr 15mins round trip.Have passed close to this top as a teenager doing Sadleworth 5 trigs but probably followed edge path from Alphin Pike. Have also crisscrossed the moors once dong the New Chew score orienteering event.
