Exmoor Nightmare

 UK Area: England
Details: This was an attempt to explore part of Exmoor that has no paths shown on the OS map by using paths that appear in aerial imagery. These paths do not exist in reality and from the fording of Hoccombe Water most of the way consists of forcing a path through up to thigh deep grass over very uneven and often boggy ground, using animal tracks where possible. Progress is slow and exhausting. The path finally improves 1.5km before Larkbarrow Cross. Could be easier in the depths of winter if the ground is frozen and the vegetation has died off. 12.4km, 217m ascent/descent, 3:50hrs. Recorded 26/7/18.
