- Trig lies on top of the impregnable Fort Borstal built by convict labour in 1883.Now a private residence. Impregnable that is unless you volunteer to join one of the local history group's clean up days or pay to use the venue (largely empty tunnels) for photo shoots, music videos, data storage, stabling,or a unique wedding venue(?) I stopped at the front gate. The Fort lies a stones throw away from the modern and even more impregnable Rochester Youth Custody detention centre -formerly Borstal Prison - the first prison in the country for young people - with a severe regime and educational rehabilitation aim - the name borstal spread to similar centres.
