  • Hard to find trig but found from coal pit road and across a small bridge into woods then on to the open Moor. Trig in a field of rhodendrons

  • No idea why this has been called Whimberry Hill? If you look on the OS Map, Whimberry Hill is a distinct feature 1 kilometre to the north, and Horrock's Moor is much closer. Technically, this is part of the much larger Smithill's Moor. But in any case, the Trig Point is adjacent to Lomax Wife's Farm, so why not name it after that? Some of the naming for Trig Points is ludicrous. Whoever was behind it, appears to have done minimal research, and has just randomly chosen names, that often have no connection to the actual site.
