Exmoor - Two Moors Way on Cheriton Ridge
From the B3223 the route follows unmarked paths to cross the Farley Water (2 fords) and gain the Two Moors Way/Tarka Trail on the Cheriton Ridge. The route then follows the ridge climbing gently before crossing the Hoaroak Water (FB) at Hoar Oak Tree. The path steepens climbing by a pretty stream valley (1 ford) to reach Exe Head on the Exe Plain. At the gate, the Tarka Trail heads west and according to the map the Two Moors Way heads ESE but there is no immediately obvious path. Follow an obvious track that starts E then deteriorates to become a path that skirts Dure Down to join the line of the Two Moors Way just before the B3223. Return on the road N to the start. 13km, 271m ascent/descent, 3hrs. Recorded 24/7/18

Exmoor - Brendon Village Doone Valley Circular
A short sharp climb from the East Lyn Valley at Brendon via Cross Lane leads onto Exmoor at Cross Gate. The route then crosses Tippacott Ridge before dropping to cross Lankcombe Ford and climb Withycombe Ridge to Doone Country arriving at the Badgeworthy Water by the site of a medieval village. A pleasant walk by the Badgeworthy leads to Malmsmead (pub, PC). Finally a BW through Southern Wood leads to the lane back to Brendon (PC, pub). 13.4km, 323m ascent/descent, 3:10hrs. Recorded 1/10/18
