It is 16km walk from Hassocks to Lewes by South Downs Way. It starts at Hassocks railway station and ends at Lewes railway station. From Lewes it is possible to take a train do Brighton (16 minutes), spend the afternoon there and return by another train from Brighton to Hassocks.

Petersfield 28-05-2008
5.3 miles starting at (SU755226) Petersfield to Buriton. Plenty of parking at Heath Pond. Take footpath from Sussex Road, signposted 'Buriton 3 miles".Cross Stanbridge stream. Bear to left after 2 more stiles into "hanger" woodland. Follow path and then keep to the left over a stile into North Lane. Turn right into Burton village. Just passed entrance to Buriton House take steps through woodland. Rejoin road. Take next footpath right and follow sign on right returning to Petersfield on Hangers Way. Enter through caravan park, turn right into Sussex Road and return to car park around the Pond.
