  • Lovely houses with ponds to south. A ruined Royal Observer Corps nuclear fall out bunker lies at the top of the field by ex-trig. one of 1500 3 man underground bunkers from which during the cold war nuclear blasts and the advance of fallout could be tracked and relayed to HQ.(if surface phone lines were intact) The rusty top hatch lid opened above a 20 foot vertical ladder (dangerous round metal rungs with no grip). I was not tempted to climb down as the web states it is now derelict below and worryingly rusting metal underground can deprive the air of oxygen leading to a build up of the heavier carbon dioxide -overcoming the unwary.
