- 1 hour circular from Ogbourme Maizey. Wellies a great idea. Sunny blue skies in Feb after an hour browsing the posh charity shops of Marlborough. Then back to Winterbourne Bassett to take the dogs out. The old railway (now a cycle route ) from Swindon to Marlborough has a troubled history from 1878 -running out of money, extra Acts of Parliment, collapsing tunnels, GWR refusing to let then link into Swindon station,(until paid enough) not linking into Marlborough station due to the geography so had to build a separate station and a guard falling off his own train crushing his foot under the wheels.
