A full week avalanche awareness, avalanche rescue and snowshoe leader course with instruction from BMG Guide “Cube” in French Grand Bornand Alps.
After spending a couple of days in the Austrian Alps (near Mayrhofen) doing the first two days of the Zillertal Berliner Höhenweg we were unexpectedly snowed off. We then hired a car and drove to Zernez in the Swiss National Park for a range of day walks from a self catering base.
Day trip up the Breithorn from Zermatt (using the Kleine Matterhorn Cable Car) Stunning views from the easiest (Grade F) roped glacier crossing for a 4000M+ peak.

We had a week’s Alpine assesment for the final part of out IML qualification. A tough, thorough and comprehensive testing of our skills in the Mountains, and great fun too (i think).
