  • I don't think the information for this is correct, because a friend of mine, who I've no reason to doubt, visited this site in 1990 and found the trig point on it's side. He said the site was being cleared for housing, and it looked like the trig point had just been dug up, and was likely to be removed soon. That was the reason for me going there myself, the following weekend, when perhaps not surprisingly, it had already been removed. If you visit Trigpointing UK they claim it was removed in 1985, when the land was cleared for the new housing estate ( and Baratts certainly bought the site for housing in 1984). But when I visited in 1990, there were still no houses there, and it appeared like they'd only just started clearing the site. So unless it was dug up in 1985, and then nothing happened for the next five years, which seems pretty unlikely, the information must be incorrect. I only started collecting trig points in 1989, so there would have been no reason for me to the visit this inner city location prior to that. Apparently the location is now in someone's back garden. But when I visited it was just bare ground, but there were indications of a filled in hole, which I suspect was where the trig point was originally located.
