  • 1/12/23 After our regular Wansfell Pike morning circuit with L from the cottage in Troutbeck - out again after lunch solo for 3 hr 12k afternoon wizz around of 5 new tops (P15s and P20s on harold street) and 2 repeat P30s. Another in a run of glorious icy days of outstanding clarity with blue skies, magnificent low winter sunshine and totally calm. Magical with an hour of orange bands as the sun sank by 4.30pm. Skirted west slope of Brunt Knott on access land to visit the p13 of Stavely Head Fell then back over Brunt Fell - to join the good -Wainwright path\' heading to to the oddly named hill -nameless: Potter fell 2. then surprisingly initially tough going through frosty soft tussocks off piste to the P15 knoll of Potter fell SE top -a lovey multi bump area of rock, grass and bracken around 8 lovely small tarns. Wove a wandering beeline to grassy Birk Rigg (P15) then back to Staveley along the fp track (no bikes) past very scenic Gurnal Dubhs and Potter Tarn. Grand silvery sun reflecting.
