  • Visited this in 1990, during a circular walk from Rushton Spencer, via The Cloud. This is yet another misnamed top. On the 1:25000 map, the top of this hill is called High Bent, and this is the name attributed to it on various walks websites. On the 1:50000 map, the top of the hill is called The Hollands ( although this is more accurately the name of a minor road leading westwards from the top of the hill). Nowhere is it called The Bent, which seems to be made up from the first two names. It took me approximately 30 seconds to google the correct name of this hill. So why was it necessary for someone to invent a name, where none was needed?
