Bagging Synges

The 646 hills listed in Tim Synge’s book The Lakeland Summits can now be viewed (and ticked off) as a list here  http://www.haroldstreet.org.uk/waypoints/download/synges/

Although there is a substantial overlap between Birkett’s and Synge’s lists, Synge covers the whole of the National Park in a more comprehensive way (he includes 134 non-Birkett summits, many of them in areas omitted by Birkett), and it’s good to see the list included alongside the Database of British and Irish Hills datasets on this excellent web platform, with the usual mapping interfaces, including OS 1:25k

Thank you Phil for adding the Synges and the Dewey Notables to your haroldstreet site. It will force Hill-bagging to add them all in time then all we need is Alan Holmes’s island list.
Your site is easy to use and has helped me correct my trigs bagged on T:UK where I now have 890 trigs bagged. I just need to cross reference it with you site over the winter.

Thanks again for your good work

    Thanks
If you can get me a copy of the Islands list with permission to use it, then i’d be happy to have a go at getting it on line.
I’m sure an island must be just the biggest prominent hill completely surrounded by sea.

    Cheers
